“Employees, local residents, firefighters, and other first responders are invited to participate in the stair climb, which will open with a brief ceremony in front of staircase #23 of the Medical Arts Pavilion attached to the hospital’s main campus,” a news release read.
The stair-climb will take place at the Valley Baptist-Harlingen Medical Arts Pavilion Stairwell #23, which is located at 2101 Pease St. in Harlingen.
SAN BENITO
The city of San Benito will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m.
“We invite our community to gather with us as we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and never forget,” the city said on Facebook.
The ceremony will take place at the San Benito Municipal Building, which is located at 401 N. Sam Houston Blvd. in San Benito.
BROWNSVILLE
Crunch Fitness in Brownsville will host a 110-flight stair-climb Friday, symbolizing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
“This year, participation has more than doubled,” a news release read. “More than 100 fire departments across 106 Crunch locations nationwide are taking part in the tribute, with an estimated 5,000-8,000 total participants expected across the country.”
Members of Crunch Fitness and members of the community are invited to complete the 110-flight stair-climb throughout the day, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

MISSION
The community is invited to attend the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by the Mission Fire Department.
The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at the Mission Central Fire Station, located at 415 W. Tom Landry St. in Mission.
“The ceremony will honor and remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call to serve,” a news release read.
“The annual ceremony provides an opportunity for the community to come together, reflect on the events of that day and pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service to others.
The City of Mission and Mission Fire Department invite residents, community partners and members of the media to attend the ceremony.”
McALLEN
The McAllen Fire Department is inviting the community to participate in a remembrance ceremony on Friday morning.
“Year after year, the department has held this remembrance to ensure the stories of that fateful day are not forgotten,” a news release read. “This year’s solemn gathering will share stories and reflections from September 11, 2001, offering an opportunity to pause, remember and honor the courage of those who responded, and the lives forever changed. Keynote speakers will include McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez and Ernesto Hernandez (Lone Star EMS regional district chief).”
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at McAllen Central Fire Station, which is located at 201 N. 21st St. in McAllen.
EDINBURG
The city of Edinburg will host a free honorary walk on Friday morning.
The 9/11 Honorary Walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a special remembrance ceremony at Fire Station 1, located at 212 W. McIntyre St. in Edinburg.
“The event will feature the ringing of the bells, the wailing of sirens, and TAPS in tribute to the victims,” a news release read. “Following the ceremony, the walk will kick off at 9:11 a.m., covering a 911-meter route around City Hall and back to Fire Station 1.”
