McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — McAllen police arrested two adults and issued citations to 22 minors for alcohol violations after responding to a “prom after-party” over the weekend, according to a news release from the McAllen Police Department.
John Michael, 60, and Tina Marie McIntyre, 55, were arrested on charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor. The minors, ranging in age from 16 to 19 years old, were issued a citation for possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At approximately 12:16 a.m. on Sunday, the reporting party asked police to check a home on the 3100 block of Scenic Way after they “noticed underage drinking,” according to the news release.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowners, later identified as John and Tina McIntyre. While speaking to the couple, police say they saw “several bottles of alcohol, cans of alcoholic beverages and black solo cups that were all open and containing alcohol.”
At the scene, several minors were detained on suspicion of alcohol violations, according to the release.
The minors told the police that they were attending “a prom after-party” and the homeowners “gave them alcohol and allowed them to drink it,” according to the release.
The minors were released and must appear before a McAllen Municipal Court judge for appropriate processing and adjudication.
Police say other charges may be pending.
Hidalgo County jail records show John and Tina McIntyre were booked and released on Sunday after each posted a $4,000 bond.
ValleyCentral reached out to Tina McIntyre, who referred us to her and John’s attorney; the attorney declined to comment.
