Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin appeared in court Friday, where a judge denied bond in his contempt of court case.
Bevin was arrested Thursday just outside of Lexington by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Louisville Metro Jail.

Bevin arrested on movie set
According to the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office, their communications center got a call that Bevin was in Bourbon County participating in a movie project and may have a warrant for his arrest.
The sheriff’s office says they confirmed the arrest warrant stemmed from a contempt charge and made contact with Bevin at the movie project and he was taken into custody shortly after.
According to NBC affiliate WLEX, “The Greatest Christmas Gift of All,” a new Great American Family movie, was wrapping up a nearly two-week shoot in downtown Paris.
The owner of the farm in Paris, KY being used as the set talked to WLWT’s sister station WLKY.
She said Bevin was arrested during filming.
She said the sheriff pulled up around 6 p.m. and started showing people Bevin’s picture, and then the sheriff was led inside.
At the time, they were shooting a wedding scene.
Police let him use the restroom then took him into custody.
She said that the movie filming resumed after he was arrested.
Charges he faces
Jail records indicate Bevin has been charged with contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order.
Bevin previously had a bench warrant out of Jefferson County after being found in contempt of court during a dispute over a child support case.
According WLKY in Louisville, Bevin attempted to join a July 28 hearing via Zoom, but Judge Angela Johnson kicked him off the hearing, saying her order was clear for him to be present in court.
This came, WLKY says, after Bevin was repeatedly a no-show for hearings since May, when Johnson initially issued a warrant for his arrest.
Bevin served as Kentucky’s governor from 2015-19, before losing his bid for re-election against current Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
