Join the NRA Friends & Family Community Event in Texas

The NRA Friends & Family Community Event is set to take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Event Center located at 1000 N Texas Ave, Mercedes, Texas. This exciting and educational event is entirely free and welcomes individuals regardless of their membership status with the NRA.

A Day Full of Learning and Fun

This inaugural community event aims to promote safe firearm ownership and provide insightful introductions to various NRA programs. Attendees can explore the renowned Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program, the Refuse to Be a Victim program, Hunter Education, and much more. Families will have the chance to engage in activities that enhance their skills and knowledge about shooting sports, as well as learn about safe firearm handling practices.

Local instructors and NRA representatives will be present, offering valuable insights through interactive discussions, activities, and educational classes. This unique opportunity not only provides families with a fun day out but also ensures everyone leaves with a deeper understanding of firearm safety.

Event Highlights

  • Free Parking and Lunch: Enjoy a hassle-free experience with complimentary parking and a delicious free lunch for all attendees.
  • Giveaways: Participate in exciting chances to win prizes, including an entry into a drawing for a Henry Lever Action .22 rifle. Young attendees will also have a special youth drawing available to them.
  • Engaging Activities: The event includes popular activities such as bucket games and the Wall of Guns, designed to make learning about firearms engaging and exciting for attendees of all ages.

Community Engagement and Safety Promotion

A special highlight of the Community Day will be the presentation of an Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program Mascot Costume to the City of Mercedes Police Department. This generous donation will be utilized to promote firearm safety and education among youth throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

This event exemplifies the dedication of the National Rifle Association and its volunteers to give back to the community. By connecting with local families, the NRA aims to encourage ongoing conversations about safety, training, and education.

Sponsor and Donation Opportunities

While the event is free to attend, sponsorship opportunities are available for those interested in supporting the cause. Businesses and contributors will receive recognition during the event, along with applicable tax deductions for their donations.
