HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health System and Prominence Health will hold a Senior Living Seminar on Friday to help raise awareness about malnutrition and healthy aging.
The free educational seminar “Living with Malnutrition” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in the Texas Room at STHS Edinburg, located at 1102 W. Trenton Road.

“It’s also important for caregivers,” said Tom Castañeda, STHS System Director of Marketing & Public Relations. “Understanding, as a caregiver, what you can do to make sure that you are monitoring the health of your parent or loved one that you are supporting and making sure that they’re eating well and exercising.”
Castañeda said one in two seniors is at risk of malnutrition, possibly due to fixed incomes or medications.
The event will also include a community health fair offering health assessments like blood pressure checks.
