UNLV basketball coach Josh Pastner re-signed another promising freshman on Tuesday, but the transfer portal hits keep coming.
Issac Williamson announced via Instagram on Tuesday that he will remain a Rebel. The news came as Williamson shared a highlight reel of his most electric plays during the 2025-26 season, in which he averaged 8.6 points and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 33.3% on three-pointers.
“Run it back #unlv #weback,” the 6-foot guard wrote in the caption.
It was a similar announcement to that of standout freshman Tyrin Jones, who announced last month that he’d be playing another season for UNLV.
Williamson, who hails from Moreno Valley, Calif., led Eastvale Roosevelt High School to a CIF State Open Division championship in 2024.
He committed to New Mexico out of high school but was released after the program changed coaches.
Outside of Williamson and Jones, Pastner hasn’t had great luck retaining players from his first Rebels roster.
Five of his players, including leading scorer Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn, announced they would be exploring their options before the transfer portal had even officially opened.
Howie Fleming Jr. surprisingly joined the fray on Tuesday, announcing his plans to enter the portal with an Instagram post.
“Thank you Vegas,” Fleming wrote. “Time to go up one last ride!! #transferpotal”
Fleming will pursue another year of eligibility despite having participated in senior night. The 6-foot-5 guard transferred to UNLV from University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, where was listed as a redshirt junior for the 2024-25 season. He played his first two years at Illinois State, then played a season at Winthrop before attending UTRGV.
Pastner also officially lost Mason Abittan, a Las Vegas local who announced his commitment to Weber State on Tuesday.
With 11 players having entered the portal or graduated, Pastner has a lot of recruiting to do — and he has yet to announce any new signees.
Where does UNLV women’s basketball stand in the portal?
Under head coach Lindy La Rocque, the Lady Rebels seem to be in a much better spot.
Although Grand Canyon’s Norah Moo appeared to be La Rocque’s first portal pickup, La Rocque snagged another addition before her.
Junior UMary guard Bergan Kinnebrew, who was a top scorer in NCAA DII hoops with 22.4 points per game on 45.4 shooting from the field last season, is also joining UNLV next season.
With these additions and six incoming freshmen, it’s likely that La Rocque won’t feel the impact of her portal losses much.
The latest of those exits is guard Teagan Colvin, who announced on Tuesday that she’s headed to Portland State.
