Promoting Health and Wellness: Join the Valley View ISD Health Fair

Today marks a significant event for the Hidalgo community as the Valley View Independent School District (ISD) hosts its annual Health Fair. The fair, designed to enhance community well-being, takes place from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Fifth Grade Campus Gymnasium, located at 9701 South Jackson Road. This initiative focuses on providing essential health services at no cost, making it an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Commitment to Community Health

Dr. Nancy Montemayor, Assistant Superintendent of Valley View ISD, underscores the district’s dedication to the health of its residents. “We care about their overall well-being; we want them to learn about accessible services in the Rio Grande Valley, especially those that are free,” she stated. This health fair is part of a broader mission to empower community members with the tools and knowledge needed for effective health management.

What Services Are Available?

Attendees of the health fair can expect a variety of free health services including:

  • Comprehensive Health Screenings: These screenings will cover various aspects of physical health, identifying potential concerns before they escalate.

  • Women’s Health Stations: Dedicated spaces providing valuable information specifically tailored for women’s health needs.

  • Diabetes Management Guidance: Educators and health professionals will offer resources and advice on managing diabetes, a growing concern in many communities.

In addition to these services, families will receive a free bag of groceries, addressing nutritional needs in tandem with health education.

Building Awareness for Ongoing Health

The Valley View ISD Health Fair aims not only to deliver immediate health interventions but also to educate residents about ongoing health resources. By connecting individuals with available services and informative resources, the fair encourages a culture of health awareness and self-care within the community.

Why You Should Attend

Residents of Hidalgo and neighboring areas are strongly encouraged to attend. Whether you’re looking to refresh your health check-ups, gain insights into health management, or simply explore lifestyle improvements, there are valuable resources available for everyone—regardless of age.
