Alton Man Arrested for Murder After Crossing Border from Mexico

Overview of the Incident

An Alton man has been apprehended on murder charges following his return to the United States from Mexico, where he was believed to be in hiding. William Ricardo Hernandez, aged 34, has been linked to the death of Danny Trevino, a tragic situation stemming from a violent incident involving family members.

Background of the Assault

The sequence of events began on the evening of October 23, 2025. At approximately 8:30 PM, Magaly Martinez, along with her 13-year-old son, reported being assaulted by a group that included Juventino Rosales Jr., Danny Trevino, Crystal Trevino, and Vanessa Hernandez, the wife of Danny Trevino. According to Alton Police Chief Mark Perez, Rosales allegedly brandished a firearm at Hernandez’s son when he intervened to aid his mother.

The Fatal Crash

The situation escalated later that night. Around 11:17 PM, police responded to a vehicular crash near the intersection of South Stewart Road and East Israel Avenue. Investigators believe that William Ricardo Hernandez deliberately crashed his vehicle into one occupied by Danny Trevino, his wife, and their two children. After the incident, Hernandez fled the scene, while Trevino was subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Arrest and Charges

Hernandez was eventually arrested on Friday at the Hidalgo Port of Entry. He faces serious charges, including murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Following his arrest, Hernandez was incarcerated at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.

Co-Conspirators and Legal Proceedings

Following the assault on October 23, arrests were made regarding the involvement of other parties. Juventino Rosales Jr. and Crystal Trevino have also been charged. Rosales is currently being held on a $190,000 bond after being booked on December 15. Crystal Trevino was arrested on November 5 for her involvement and released the next day; she has a court appearance scheduled for March 26.

Conclusion

The case sheds light on a tragic intersection of family turmoil and violence in Alton. With William Ricardo Hernandez now facing murder charges, the legal proceedings will take center stage in the coming months as authorities work to ensure justice for Danny Trevino’s family.
