UTRGV Athletics Welcomes Amber Sauceda as Development Coordinator

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is excited to announce the appointment of Amber Sauceda as the new development coordinator for its Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This strategic hire aims to bolster the university’s athletic programs and enhance community engagement.

A New Chapter for UTRGV Athletics

Amber Sauceda joins the UTRGV family during a pivotal moment for the Vaqueros Athletic Fund (VAF). Her role will encompass a variety of essential responsibilities aimed at supporting the daily operations of the fund. Key tasks include managing donor records, overseeing stewardship and recognition efforts, assisting with premium seating arrangements, and organizing donor events and engagement initiatives.

Visionary Leadership

Chief of Staff and Associate Athletic Director for Development, Eddie Galvan, expressed his enthusiasm about Sauceda’s addition to the team. He stated, “The growth of the Vaqueros Athletic Fund and continued momentum across our programs require a strong, disciplined development operation. Amber will be a key part of this next chapter.” Galvan highlighted that Sauceda’s energy, professionalism, and capacity to build meaningful relationships with supporters align perfectly with UTRGV Athletics’ vision.

Diverse Experience in the Sports Industry

Amber Sauceda brings a wealth of experience from multiple levels of the sports sector, having worked across professional, collegiate, and high school athletics. Most recently, she was instrumental as an event team member at the NFL Draft Experience in April 2025. In this role, Sauceda contributed to the coordination and execution of large-scale special events, which included sponsor activations and fan engagement initiatives.

Engaging the Community

Sauceda’s previous roles have been defined by her aptitude for community engagement and fan interaction. While at the NFL Draft Experience, she provided customer service to attendees, ensuring a memorable experience for fans and sponsors alike. This commitment to quality service will undoubtedly serve her well at UTRGV.

Proven Track Record with THSCA

Prior to her time with the NFL, Sauceda spent over a year at the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA). In this capacity, she successfully executed integrated marketing campaigns, organized significant events like the annual Coaching School, and tracked engagement analytics to refine outreach strategies. Her adept handling of donor and member databases further showcases her competency in the field.

Academic Credentials

Amber Sauceda’s academic background is equally impressive. She earned her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Entertainment Management from the University of North Texas in December 2025. Prior to that, she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas State University in May 2024. This solid educational foundation complements her extensive hands-on experience.

Looking Forward

With her robust background and enthusiastic approach, Sauceda is well-prepared to make a significant impact at UTRGV. "I want to thank Chasse Conque and Eddie Galvan. There is something incredible happening here at UTRGV, and I look forward to meeting everyone and becoming a Vaquero!" she stated, signaling her eagerness to contribute to the university’s athletic mission.

Conclusion

The UTRGV community is poised for growth and engagement under Sauceda’s guidance. Her experience and passion for athletics position her as a vital asset to the development team. As UTRGV Athletics embarks on this exciting journey, the anticipation of what’s to come is palpable among supporters and stakeholders alike.
