Dance for a Cause: The 17th Annual "Dancing with the Stars of Hidalgo County"

The Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association (RGVDA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming 17th annual gala, "Dancing with the Stars of Hidalgo County." This vibrant event will take place on November 2nd at the Mission Events Center, promising an evening filled with entertainment and purpose.

A Night to Remember

The gala is not just a dance competition but a celebration of local talent and community spirit. This year’s lineup showcases a remarkable collection of local stars who are all set to showcase their dancing skills for an essential cause — diabetes awareness and education.

Featured Participants

Joe Louis Sanchez

Joe Louis Sanchez, a funeral director at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, brings nearly two decades of experience in the death care industry. As the Chairman of the Mission Housing Authority Board, he has dedicated much of his time to improving community welfare.

Cesar Dominguez

Operations Specialist III at IBC Bank, Cesar Dominguez, also engages actively with numerous community initiatives. His commitment extends beyond banking, focusing on financial literacy, especially among students. A graduate from Our Lady of the Lake University, Cesar is passionate about education and community service.

Annail Vela

With a background in nursing and business development, Annail Vela is dedicated to advocating for health awareness in the Rio Grande Valley. Her role at PAD Specialists focuses on educating the public about Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), significantly reducing amputation rates in the community.

Samantha Ramirez

As a Senior Diabetes Care Specialist for Novo Nordisk, Samantha Ramirez leverages her expertise to educate the community on diabetes management. Born in Brownsville and an alumna of the University of Texas at Austin, she is committed to nurturing future generations through her philanthropic work with the Texas Exes Association.

Dr. Dustin Mathias Luebbers

Dr. Luebbers is a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon recognized for his minimally invasive surgical techniques. His commitment to patient care and education reflects his dedication to improving health outcomes within the Rio Grande Valley.

Anabel Espinoza

Anabel Espinoza, an expert in regional sales and marketing at Regency Integrated Health Services, has over 13 years of experience in the skilled nursing facility industry. Her strategic vision has led to remarkable growth and success in her organization, mirrored in her dynamic dance performance.

Dr. Annabelle Palomo

With a rich educational background and years of experience in various educational roles, Dr. Annabelle Palomo has made significant contributions to nursing and allied health. As the CEO of the Rio Grande Valley College and Meraki Institute, she is devoted to shaping the future through education.

Dr. Juan Ortiz

Hailing from Bogota, Colombia, Dr. Ortiz’s journey into medicine includes diverse experiences from practicing in the Amazon jungle to serving as a cruise ship doctor. His commitment to community health is evident through his advocacy for diabetes prevention in the Rio Grande Valley.

Blake Holland

As a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter for KVEO Channel 23 and CBS 4, Blake Holland brings energy and enthusiasm to the local media landscape. A graduate of the University of Missouri, he is eager to contribute to the community and support local initiatives.

About the RGVDA

The RGVDA, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to combating diabetes through education, early detection, and community awareness. Funds raised during the gala directly support programs tailored to the needs of Hidalgo County residents.
