VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria County Commissioners are set to discuss a professional services agreement for building-commissioning work connected to construction of the county’s new mental and behavioral health facility.
Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, commissioners are scheduled to meet in a special session at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Victoria County Courthouse.
Commissioners are also expected to consider approving an American Rescue Plan Act draw request of $111,475 for the Hope Ranch facility construction project.
The court will also review bid and evaluation information for the Johnson Road Setup Project, choose a bidder and consider authorizing a notice to proceed.
At Victoria Regional Airport, commissioners will receive a fully executed Texas Department of Transportation routine airport maintenance grant. They will also consider authorizing an agreement to buy an airport sweeper, contingent on Federal Aviation Administration grant funding.
Other agenda items include several agreements involving the county public health department, including grants and services tied to HIV care, housing assistance and home-visiting programs. Commissioners will also consider an agreement with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Regional Security Operations Center.
The meeting includes discussion of financial relief for Texas A&M University-Victoria and other A&M System campuses that provide Hazlewood Act tuition and fee waivers for eligible veterans and, in some cases, their families. The A&M System Board of Regents has approved up to $30 million annually for three years to help campuses cover waived revenue, according to the agenda.
Commissioners are also scheduled to consider pre-qualified firms for future architectural, engineering and land-surveying services; detention and residential contracts connected to the Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center; the county’s updated investment policy; budget amendments; and personnel changes.
The meeting will be held in Room 241 on the second floor of the courthouse at 115 N. Bridge St.
