Texans are a ‘no te dejes’ kind of people. We know our worth, we know who we are, and we are ready to fight and defend it. That’s why, come November, we will end Greg Abbott’s 30-year political career.”
On Tuesday morning, Hinojosa visited a local construction site with leaders of the South Texas Builders Association to hear directly from builders about how the current political climate has affected their workforce and driven up the cost of materials.
Later, Hinojosa phonebanked with LUPE Votes, where she connected with voters about issues ranging from the economy to data centers and local public schools shutting down. In one conversation, Hinojosa spoke with Brownsville resident Nyla about her mother’s electricity bill going up to $600 per month.
“What I’m hearing from you, I’m hearing from everybody right now,” Hinojosa said. “My commitment on electricity bills is to freeze the rates. At a minimum, we have to make sure all the corporations – they’re all getting breaks because of us – pay their fair share, because we cannot pay for global corporations that are run by billionaires.”
