The National Weather Service Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley office has issued a flood watch for all of Deep South Texas from Monday through Wednesday morning, and local municipalities have responded with sandbag distributions.

HARLINGEN

The city of Harlingen will be distributing prepared sandbags on Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Public Works Yard, located at 404 S. 54th St.

Residents will receive six bags per household, and ten bags per business. Residents must bring a driver’s license and water bill, and business owners must bring a water bill.

LOS FRESNOS

The city of Los Fresnos will distribute sandbags at 1:30 p.m. at the Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds, located at 500 E. Ocean Blvd.

The distribution will be self-service with shovels provided by the city. The sandbags will be distributed while supplies lasts.

Proof of residency, such as a valid I.D., is required.

LA FERIA

The city of La Feria will distribute sandbags from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Public Works Warehouse, located at 717 W. 1st Street.

The sandbags are for residents only. Residents must provide a driver’s license and a water bill.

Residents will receive five bags per household, and businesses will receive ten bags per business.

CAMERON COUNTY

Cameron County will distribute sandbags at four locations from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

The sandbags will be available at the Pct. 1 Warehouse, located at 2050 S. Browne Ave. in Brownsville; Pct. 2 Warehouse, located at 7092 Old Alice Road in Brownsville; Pct. 3 Warehouse, located at 26945 FM 510 in San Benito; and Pct. 4 Warehouse, located at 26641 White Ranch Road in La Feria.

Residents will receive six sandbags, and businesses and commercial property owners will receive 10 sandbags. Residents will not need to provide proof of residence.

EDINBURG

The city of Edinburg will host a sandbag distribution on Monday from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at two locations.

Sandbags will be distributed at the Edinburg Service Center, located at 1201 N. Doolittle Road, and at Edinburg Municipal Park, located at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road.

The distribution at the Edinburg Service Center will be a drive-thru event with city staff loading the sandbags in vehicles upon arrival, while supplies last. 

The distribution at Edinburg Municipal Park will be a self-service distribution. Shovels will be available on-site.

Edinburg residents will receive up to six sandbags per household, and Edinburg businesses will receive up to eight sandbags. Proof of residency is required.

HIDALGO COUNTY

Hidalgo County Precinct 1 is currently hosting a self-serve sandbag distribution in Mercedes. 

The distribution began at 10 a.m., and will continue until 2 p.m., at Sunset Park, located at FM 1015 off Mile 11 N & Mile 1 1/2 W.

McALLEN

The city of McAllen is currently providing sandbags at Westside Park, located at 1000 S. Ware Rd.

Bags will be distributed until 7 p.m. Monday. Shovels and bags will be provided by the city. Residents will need to fill their own bags.

Residents will receive six sandbags per household, and businesses will receive 12 sandbags. Proof of residency is required.

DONNA

The city of Donna is providing sandbags at the Public Works Department, located at 1304 Silver Avenue, until 7 p.m.

Residents will receive four sandbags per household, and businesses will receive six sandbags.

The sandbags are pre-filled. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles, and city staff will load the sandbags into their vehicles. Proof of residency is required.

MERCEDES

The city of Mercedes is providing sandbags on Monday until they run out of supplies.

The sandbags are being distributed at the Mercedes KC Hall parking lot, located at 150 North Ohio Avenue. 

Residents must provide proof of residency, and they will be receiving four bags per household.

Residents are also asked to bring their own shovels. Assistance will be available for elderly residents and residents with disabilities.

ALAMO

The city of Alamo is currently providing sandbags at multiple locations.

Residents and business owners must first visit the Alamo City Hall, located at 420 N. Tower Road. After showing proof of residency with a utility bill, bags will then be distributed.

Residents can take their bags to be filled at the Alamo Sports Complex, located at 600 E. Ridge Road, or to Balli Park, located at 804 E. Nebraska Road. Residents will be provided with shovels to fill their own bags.

Individuals over the age of 60 or with disabilities can go to the Alamo Public Works, located at 803 S. Tower Road, where staff will be available to load the sandbags into their vehicles.

Residents will receive five sandbags per household, and businesses will receive two bags per door.

The Alamo City Hall will be open until 5 p.m., and the Alamo Public Works will be open until 6 p.m.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND

Residents on the Island will be able to pick up sandbags from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Public Works Workshop located on the corner of West Venue and Laguna Boulevard.

This is a self-bagging site, meaning residents and businesses need to bring shovels to fill their own bags.

Residents are allowed five bags per property and businesses are allowed 10 bags per property.

SAN JUAN

The city of San Juan will distribute sandbags at 4 p.m. today.

The sandbags will be distributed at the San Juan Municipal Park, located at 506 US-83 BUS. Residents are advised to enter through 1st Street. The bags will be distributed in the East Side Parking Lot.

Residents will receive four bags per household and six bags per business.

Proof of residency, either a photo ID or a utility bill, will be required.

ALTON

Sandbags will be distributed behind the Arturo Galvan Sr. Development Center, located at 416 S. Alton Boulevard.

Residents of Alton will have until 6 p.m. to pick up their sandbags. Residents will receive six bags per household. Assistance will be provided for elderly and disabled residents.
