A veteran of South Texas TV news will now help lead a team of investigative reporters in one of the largest television markets in the country.

Over the course of a decade, Garcia worked his way up in the Valley television news industry, starting as a producer at what was then known as KGBT 4 Action News, a CBS affiliate based in Harlingen. Eventually, Garcia moved to the anchor desk for what became rebranded ValleyCentral, the CBS and NBC duopoly owned by Nexstar Media Group.
Along the way, Garcia cemented himself as a trusted reporter who held everyone from public officials to local restaurant owners accountable through his work on ValleyCentral’s 4 INVESTIGATES and Food 4 Thought teams.
In July, MySA reported on Garcia’s departure from ValleyCentral, a mid-sized market that serves nearly 430,000 television households in the Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen viewing area, according to Nielsen Ratings. Garcia’s new gig has now landed him at the sixth-largest TV market in the nation with nearly 2.8 million TV households. And while he’ll continue pursuing his passion for investigative reporting, the position at KPRC2 has also taken him away from the glare of the studio lights.
“The role takes me away from being on camera, but it gives me an opportunity to pursue a new passion. I’ll be sharing the incredible work the ENOUGH team produces with one goal: to help Houstonians,” Garcia said.
ENOUGH is the latest in a line of investigative reporting initiatives by the Houston NBC affiliate. On August 14, KPRC announced that ENOUGH would be launching next month.
“When important questions go unanswered, we won’t stop until they do,” the announcement reads.
KPRC bills ENOUGH as a “commitment to accountability journalism” that will seek to investigate Texas Education Freedom Accounts, the possibility of high-speed rail in Texas, population and development growth in Houston, which is the nation’s fourth-largest city, as well as public safety, local government services and other topics “that could shape Houston and Texas for years to come.”
“ENOUGH will keep following the issues that matter to Houstonians, asking what changed, what didn’t and whether promises made become promises kept. Because sometimes the first answer isn’t the full answer,” the announcement reads.
The first ENOUGH segment will air at 10 p.m. on September 13.
