EDINBURG, Texas – IDEA Toros College Preparatory has announced a partnership with Cobalt Sports Holdings that includes a complete brand transformation with a new name and crest. 

For the upcoming 2023-2024 season, IDEA Toros Fútbol Academy will be representing the Rio Grande Valley in the MLS Next Player Development Platform.   

“We are extremely proud to partner with Cobalt Sports Holdings on this exciting opportunity to take our soccer program to the next level,” said IDEA Toros Fútbol Academy MLS Next Academy Director, Johann Contasté. 

MLS Next is the top league in North America for boys’ youth soccer. 

“Player development is our number one priority at IDEA Toros Fútbol Academy and through this partnership, we will be able to maximize each player’s potential as they will compete with some of the best teams in the nation,” Contasté added.

IDEA Toros College Preparatory is also on the national stage, ranking in the top one percent of high schools in the U.S. according to the U.S. News and World Report.  

“We are proud to partner with IDEA Toros to bring a total pathway to student-athletes in the Rio Grande Valley,” said Cobalt Sports Holdings CEO, Brent Erwin. 

Cobalt Sports Holdings was created to provide support, opportunities, collaboration, and revenue streams to sports programs by combining the ‘strength in numbers’ philosophy with clubs that are independent by structure and desire, Erwin explained.

“After working and spending the last year in this wonderful region of Texas, it confirms our belief that there are talented young men and women in this area who deserve the best opportunities,” Erwin added.

IDEA Toros Fútbol Academy offers a competitive, holistic soccer program in the Rio Grande Valley which includes: 

• Year-round training with elite level trainers 
• Elite training environment featuring complete professional grade turf and grass soccer fields 
• An academic program that is ranked in the top 1% of high schools in the country  
• Every graduate earns a college scholarship  

IDEA Toros FA has also announced MLS Next tryouts for players interested in the Rio Grande Valley on the following dates: 

• Who:  Players born between 2005-2010 
• When: June 13– 15, 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  
• Where: IDEA Toros College Preparatory, 3300 E. Texas Rd, Edinburg, TX
