According to Edinburg Mayor Omar Ochoa, the Shoppes at Rio Grande Valley — which is in the middle of a massive expansion as several new brands open their first-ever Edinburg locations — is also home to the No. 1 Burlington, the No. 5 Academy Sports + Outdoors and the No. 2 most-visited Starbucks in Texas. The high foot traffic comes, in large part, from the city’s status as one of the top 10 U.S. cities for millennials and one of the 100 best cities in the country for retirees, the mayor said.
“Edinburg isn’t just growing; we’re thriving,” Ochoa captioned a Facebook video celebrating the city’s booming economic successes, which also served as an open invitation for additional retailers to invest in the fastest-growing city in South Texas.
“This is a beautiful community with lots of economic potential. So, if you are looking for a place to invest here in the Rio Grande Valley, here in Edinburg is no better place,” Ochoa said.
