Rigoberto Garza Charged with Murder: A Tragic Event in Weslaco

In a shocking turn of events, a Weslaco man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his common-law wife, Jessica Mendez. Rigoberto Garza, 39, surrendered to the police after allegedly admitting to the crime.

On Thursday at approximately 2:29 a.m., the Weslaco Police Department received a distressing call from the Alamo Police Department. Garza had driven to Alamo to confess about the alleged murder, prompting his family to encourage him to surrender. Shortly after the call, Weslaco police arrived at a residence in the 600 block of West 11th Street, where they discovered the lifeless body of 38-year-old Mendez. Authorities noted that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
