Community Invited to the 2nd Annual Light of Love Candlelight Vigil for Children’s Grief Awareness Day

The Children’s Bereavement Center of the Rio Grande Valley (CBC-RGV) is honored to announce its 2nd Annual Light of Love Candlelight Vigil. This heartfelt event is designed to raise awareness and support for children experiencing grief, aligning with the observance of Children’s Grief Awareness Day. The vigil will take place simultaneously at two locations—McAllen and Harlingen—on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.

Embracing Hope and Healing

This year’s theme, “Light of Love: A Candlelight Vigil for Hope and Healing,” encapsulates the essence of community, remembrance, and the shared journey of healing through grief. It serves as a gathering space for families, friends, and community members to honor the memory of loved ones while providing mutual support to grieving children across the Rio Grande Valley.

Highlights of the Vigil

The event will feature a range of compassionate activities, ensuring a nurturing atmosphere for attendees.

  • Candlelight Ceremony: A meaningful gathering to honor and remember loved ones.
  • Reflections: Focused discussions and moments centered on compassion, healing, and community solidarity.
  • Musical Contributions: Special performances from local community members, adding a heartfelt touch to the vigil.
  • Community Partner Participation: Engagement from local organizations, showcasing their support for grieving families.
  • Light Refreshments: Enjoy refreshments provided for all attendees.

Participants are encouraged to bring a photo of a loved one for a remembrance table. This table serves as a sacred space for families to honor those they cherish and reflect on their memories.

Community Commitment to Grieving Children

Bill Reagan, Executive Director of CBC-RGV, emphasizes the collective community commitment: “As a community, we share the responsibility of ensuring no child feels alone in their grief. The Light of Love vigil is a beautiful reminder that healing grows when we surround children with understanding, compassion, and hope.”

Attendees are invited to don blue attire in honor of Children’s Grief Awareness Day, encouraging a sense of unity among families, caregivers, professionals, and community members of all ages.
